Depression

Depression
“Depression” by Christina Marie Wilmes

Shadows trail behind me
chained to my legs,
I can never escape.

Save me,
running towards bright light
but the darkness grows bigger
like an unstoppable avalanche.

Exhausted
I collapse to the ground
admitting defeat.

Depression has enslaved me.
